Adam Shoemaker: The Monash educational philosophy is very student centred. No matter where it is we test students, we ask them to extend themselves, to find out answers to questions, to do so independently. It's a wonderful way to become more adept in the wider world.

David Brown: Education in India and education in Australia is completely different. It brings out the best of you in Australia with a lot of assignments and a lot of project works and I think that has been great.

Annie Santhana: Quite a lot of difference in the education system between Monash and compared to what I had done prior. The education system emphasised more on problem solving, logical thinking, thing's like that. It's quite different from what I was used to here which was primarily rote learning, the system itself was quite different. So I find that quite empowering because suddenly no one's actually telling you how to do the project but their helping you think as to how you would do the project. So that was a very obvious difference that I found.

Lorraine Rodrigues: If you've got two students, one who has studied overseas and someone who has come straight out of a C.I.S.C.E. college in Bangalore, studied predominately by rote, the difference is quite stark in terms of them being able to take a concept, understand it and apply critical thinking to it. Whereas students who have relied on rote learning and regurgitating that information, so there's a bit of re-training that has to happen to get the best out of our students depending on where they've studied.

Kon Wai Luen: The training which I got in terms of my thinking skills and also my decision making and my analysis skills would still serve me well over the course of my career.

Grace Ng: I think the advantage that Monash gives you in terms of learning the theory is providing a framework and a background in which to think. And that is what gave me the most advantage and I feel is that what gave all us Monash students the advantage above the rest.
