Head of Collaborating Centre:

Professor Joan Ozanne-Smith is a medical graduate, with a Doctorate of Medicine and a Master degree in Public Health, as well as a Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine, and an MA prelim. in Sociology. In recent years, she has received a number of awards for her leadership in injury research and prevention. As well as particular research interests in safe design, child injury prevention, evaluation, and methodological developments, she also has strong interests in data system developments, capacity building, and translation of research into practice. Increasingly, her research is conducted in regional developing countried, focused on implementation research. She supports developments in a number of these research areas as a PhD supervisor and member of international WHO and scientific committees and national boards and councils. Professor Ozanne-Smith has been appointed as an Honorary Consultant to the Zhejiang Centers for Disease Control China.

Currently under appointment process as part of the implementation of the Monash University Accident Research Centre strategic plan.

Collaborations:

The Monash University Accident Research Centre - WHO Collaborating Centre has participated in a significant number of past and ongoing collaborations that assist development and monitoring of regional and global capacity in injury prevention. Ongoing commitment and funding will allow these developing country collaborations to multiply and expand. Collaborations are classified into four areas, each of which is expected to expand: capacity building, research, strategic planning and leading-edge workshops.
