Prato Centre in Italy forges a European connection

The Prato Centre is Monash University's teaching and research hub in Europe. The Centre provides a base for collaboration with European researchers and a support centre for Monash postgraduate and honours students conducting research within Europe.

The Centre is located in an 18th century villa in the historic centre of Prato, an old Tuscan city now famous for its textile manufacturing, and provides an annual program of seminars and conferences relevant to Monash researchers and their European counterparts. It also provides office space for visiting academics and research students from Monash and partner institutions.

Australian researchers in the field of global movements are involved in an ongoing study of issues around the settlement of thousands of Chinese textile workers in Prato.
