English language requirements

For entry to Monash University, you must meet the minimum English language requirements. You can do this by completing one of the qualifications listed.

Some courses have higher English language requirements than those listed here. Check the course requirements.

If you've completed several measures of English proficiency over a period of time, the highest valid measure will be accepted as long as it's been taken within the required time limitations.

International students applying for a visa need to satisfy English requirements set by the Department of Home Affairs where these requirements and acceptable English tests differ from Monash University.


English-speaking background or education

You can meet the English language requirements through any of the ways listed below if you've completed at least six years of schooling in an English medium institution in an English-speaking country, before the age of 19.


Non-English-speaking background or education

You can meet the English language requirements through any of the ways listed below if you haven't completed at least six years of schooling in an English medium institution in an English-speaking country, before the age of 19.

Time limits may apply to the evidence you provide to demonstrate your English language proficiency.
